A young person in a tough, possibly abusive, relationship encounters a killed swan on a busy road. There’s a certain recognition that happens, as well as empathy and disgust at the same time. The swan is horribly disfigured; it’s not weird to think it gross, but still there is a soft empathy as well, this was an animal, too.
